Is MeLetters.co.uk free?
Yes — completely free. There are no subscription fees, credits, or hidden charges. You can generate up to 20 letters per day without spending a penny. The service is funded by advertising.
How does it work?
Fill in the form: choose a letter type, enter your name and the recipient, describe your situation, and select your desired outcome and tone. Our AI generates a complete, professional letter in seconds. You can copy it to your clipboard or download it as a PDF.
What types of letters can I write?
We support over 20 letter types including formal complaints, resignation letters, appeal letters, legal notices, cover letters, landlord and tenant disputes, GDPR subject access requests, freedom of information requests, employment disputes, insurance claims, debt and financial disputes, and more.
Is the letter legally binding?
No. Letters generated by MeLetters are drafting aids and do not constitute legal advice. They are professionally worded and reference relevant legislation, but for significant legal matters you should consult a qualified solicitor. The letters are designed to be persuasive and authoritative — not to replace professional legal counsel.
Can I edit the letter?
Absolutely. Once generated, copy the letter and edit it freely in any word processor, email client, or text editor before sending. We recommend reviewing it to make sure all the details are accurate.
What languages are supported?
We support over 30 languages including English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Russian, Arabic, Hindi, Japanese, Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), Korean, Turkish, Polish, Swedish, and many more. You can also request a translation into a second language in the same generation.
Is my data safe?
We take your data seriously. The information you enter in the form is sent to OpenAI to generate your letter — it is not stored by us unless you have a signed-in account. If you do have an account, your letters are stored securely in Supabase, a SOC 2 certified cloud database. We use Clerk for authentication. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
Do I need an account?
No. You can generate as many letters as you need without signing up. Creating a free account lets you save your letters to your history so you can access, copy, or download them any time.
How many letters can I generate?
Up to 20 letters per day. This fair use limit exists to ensure the service remains fast and available for everyone. If you have a genuine need for higher volume, contact us at hello@meletters.co.uk.
What countries are supported?
We support 50+ countries with country-specific legislation. When you select your country, the AI cites the exact laws that apply — from the UK Consumer Rights Act 2015 to Nigeria's FCCPA, South Africa's Consumer Protection Act, Australia's ACL, India's Consumer Protection Act 2019, and many more. If your country isn't listed, select 'Other' and the AI will reference general consumer protection principles.
What if the letter doesn't sound quite right?
Try adjusting the tone (formal, assertive, polite, urgent, or empathetic), add more specific detail to your situation (dates, reference numbers, names), or change the desired outcome. The more precise your inputs, the better the letter. You can regenerate as many times as you like.
Can I use MeLetters for business letters?
Yes. While MeLetters is designed with individuals in mind, the letters work equally well for small business owners dealing with suppliers, contractors, or regulatory bodies. Simply enter your business name in the 'Your name' field.
